RELEASE: WCCHA Announces Roster for 2017 ACHA DII All-Star Challenge
(St. Paul, MN) -- The WCCHA is excited to announce the 2017 WCCHA All-Stars roster that will compete at the 2017 ACHA DII All-Star Challenge on April 7-9, 2017 at Ice Line Quad Rinks in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Headlining the roster are players with 3 1st-Team All-WCCHA selections, 4 2nd-Team All-WCCHA selections, 9 Honorable Mention All-WCCHA selections and 3 All-Tournament Team selections. The players representing the WCCHA come from 6 member schools, including UW-Eau Claire (6), Winona State (5), UW-Madison (4), Minnesota (3), UW-La Crosse (2) and Minnesota State-Mankato (2).
In total, the team features 12 forwards, 7 defenders and 3 goaltenders - a strong roster that will be ready to compete in 5 games spread across the 3 day event. All 2016-2017 rostered players from the WCCHA recieved an invitation to apply for the team, and selections were made from those who formally submitted their interest in representing the WCCHA at this year's event. This year's team will be coached by Don Loew (UW-Eau Claire) and Dan Michaelson (WCCHA).
This will be the fourth time the ACHA has held the All-Star Challenge, with previous editions in 2011, 2013, and 2015. The WCCHA last sent a team in 2013, finishing in 3rd place.
